Debut Utility Closet Concept & Design by Lily, Lead Organizing Expert™

This was my first utility closet concept and design!

My client had a catch all space in her kitchen that she was ready to convert into a functioning closet. After taking measurements and creating a product list that was perfect for what was needed, I was able to use the Impact Organizing Method created by our CEO Kammie Lisenby and in just two hours transform the space!

I emptied out the entire closet, wiped it down and sorted all of the odds and ends into different categories. Once I had everything laid out it was easy for my client to decide what to keep and what to get rid of, and it allowed us to see everything that was being stored in the closet. You want to make sure that everything going back into the space belongs there.  For example, if you are storing garden tools in your kitchen you might have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Sticking to the Impact Method and categorizing helps determine the main categories that need to be the focus of whatever project you are organizing for!

After you have your categories and the purging is done, containing the categories really creates the polished instagrammable look that our clients love and that is exactly how I finished this project. I used the grey bins from the container store with the convenient label pouches for household categories and the clear plastic bins for pet items that are dirtier because they can be easily wiped out. The door hanger was perfect for my client who is an on the go mom as a quick grab section that took two minutes to put up.
